Teacher Excursion to the United Arab Emirates

In fall 2009, GDAB organized an excursion for 15 teachers and other multipliers to the United Arab Emirates.

Aiming to provide participants with a diversity of valuable insights and opportunities for encounters to initiate the dialogue with locals, the excursion covered visits to a variety of institutions. Participants visited schools, universities, a center for the handicapped, mosques as well as traditional gatherings including a wedding, folkloric performances and a camel race.

Through family visits, participants also gained an impression of family life in the Emirates. Direct exchange with locals helped to equip participants with a more comprehensive understanding of the Emirati culture.

Several participants established lasting contacts with Emirati people, a basis for sustained understanding and collaboration.
